Frequently Asked Questions

What is PDR? Paintless Dent Repair or Dent Removal (PDR), is the process of repairing and/or removing dents, dings, creases, and hail damage on vehicles without the inconvenience and expense of traditional auto body repair methods. PDR does not use dry ice, electricity, or anything else that might be harmful to the existing paint for factory finish. For specific questions or more dent repair information, contact us now!

The process of Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is very unique and so is each technician. Because removing dings is done by people and not machines there is always a chance for error. Pro Auto Spa takes pride fixing your dings right the first time and fixing the dings the other technicians said could not be fixed.

Collision repair shops usually use body putty or paint.  With PDR there is no need for the use of body putty or paint. Therefore the vehicle retains its original factory finish in order to help your vehicle retain its value. The process is environmentally safe, much quicker, and often times, less expensive than traditional body shop methods. The repair is always guaranteed against future defects, reappearance, or any other damage caused by the repair. Don’t choose any collision repair shop for your PDR needs, choose the Pro Auto Spa your PDR specialist!

Can I fix my own dings? Great question! No is usually the right answer. Without the correct skills, tools, and knowledge an untrained individual can actually cause more damage attempting to repair their own car. The end result is typically a much more expensive repair.

To measure dings, we use a method based on currency – dime, nickel, quarter, and half dollar. If dings are larger than a half dollar we start using objects to achieve a common understanding with our clients; tennis ball, orange, volleyball, basketball, etc.

A quote can be received by contacting Pro Auto Spa via phone or email. Our phone number is (719) 272-4242.

Sending pictures are always welcome. However, nothing beats seeing the dings up close and in person. As a result, quotes given based on pictures are only ballpark figures.

We guarantee the quality of the paintless dent repair for as long as you own your vehicle. Our goal is for each customer to be 100% satisfied. If for any reason you are unhappy with the quality of the repair please let us know and we will do our very best to make it right.

To remove a ding, the process can take anywhere from a minute to several hours to repair. Obviously the more damage there is the longer the repair will take. A typical hail damaged car can be fixed in 1-3 days. Keep in mind PDR technicians are not paid based on time. You are paying them for their years of experience and skill/art to repair your car.

Motorcycle Tanks can be repaired with a unique PDR method. There have been times when Pro Auto Spa has been able to do the repairs especially on motorcycle fenders. Motorcycle tanks, on the other hand, are a bit tricky to repair using PDR especially working them from the inside out. If Pro Auto Spa’s metal tools are required to remove dings on a motorcycle tank, the tank will have to be drained of gas and removed from the motorcycle.

Your paint won’t be damaged if the dings can be repaired under normal circumstances. When damage is too great and your insurance company knows the repair is still worth pursuing using PDR, a PDR technician will use a technique called push-to-paint.

Push-To-Paint is where your vehicle may need to have some refinish work done on certain panels, but by using PDR we may be able to reduce the amount of body repairs or panel replacement.

Tapping a dent is necessary when manipulating the metal. A PDR technician uses a hammer and tap down to reshape the metal.

Blending is very similar to tapping. However, blending is done with a specially designed blending hammer. The PDR technician taps directly on the metal with a blending hammer, rather than a tap down, to reshape the metal.

If PDR isn’t the solution to your damages, we will recommend a highly skilled body shop to repair your car.

Pro Auto Spa is capable of fixing dings the size of a dime to dents the size of a trash can lid. Check out our Gallery to view actual before and after images for more details.

On minor dents, in most cases, yes. The deeper the dent, the more difficult it is to repair. Even on larger dents, once we’re done, most people are amazed at the results. We always explain in detail how your dent will likely look before any work is started.

Dents will NOT come back. Once a dent has been removed properly with Paintless Dent Repair, it never comes back. Many dents repaired conventionally develop a ring around the dent, or sand scratch marks 3 – 6 months after the repair. This is never the case with properly performed Paintless Dent Repair.

Yes! Keep in mind aluminum panels require more effort and are priced higher than steel.

Yes, Pro Auto Spa can fix bumpers. If you have a plastic bumper on your car you may be in luck. If you have a steel bumper the answer is no. Plastic bumpers are made from molds and have memory. Pro Auto Spa does not guarantee repairs on plastic bumpers. Nevertheless, many clients over the years have been satisfied paying a fraction of the cost to have Pro Auto Spa repair their dented bumper rather than paying the hundreds of dollars charged otherwise.
